Young-ae Woo

Woo Young-ae, in her 103rd year, passed away peacefully on July 10 due to complications related to old age.
Born in Yongjeong in 1923, she graduated from Myungshin Girls' High School, established by the Canadian Mission. After completing her studies at Gongju Teachers' College, she became one of the first generation of professionally trained teachers, teaching in Aoji (Hamgyeong Province), Yongjeong, and, after 1945, in Sosa and Seoul.Beginning in 1960, she served in the General Affairs Office of the Central Government before immigrating to Canada in 1975. An avid reader of newspapers and a frequent user of social media, she continued until recently to knit knee warmers, which she donated to organizations serving people with disabilities.She is survived by her son, Rev. Kim Hoon (Kim In-sook), two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge on Saturday August 1st, 2026 from 10 a.m. till service time at 11 a.m. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date in Wyevale Cemetery, Wyevale Ontario.
