It is with grieving hearts to say in her 92nd year Winifred Smith (Johnston-nee Porte) Passed away on August 21st, 2012 at Tall Pines Long Term Care Facility, Brampton. Winnie, as she was known, was born in Belfast Northern Ireland December 24, 1919. She was married to the Late John Johnston, December 1977. Immigrated to Canada March 1953 along with their daughter Catherine (Kay) Johnston. She later married Reginald Smith 1987 and resided in Brampton until his passing March 17, 2008. They were members of Brampton Legion Branch 15 and British Canadian Club Brampton. Winnie is survived by daughter Cathy Gibson (nee Johnston) 3 granddaughters and 7 great-grandchildren, Kim Snooks (Gibson), Johnathan and Michael Angus, Ontario, Caryn Cress (Gibson), son-in-law Scott Cress, Tiffany and Breanna Newlowell, Ontario, Dawn Saulnier (Gibson), son-in-law Rene Saulnier, Courtney Watts-Gibson, Erika and Elissa Saulnier, Brampton. Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel” 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10), Saturday from 1-2 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm in the chapel.
