William Robert Stewart (Bill) died with dignity and grace on June 22, 2026. With the kind help of MAID, he was able to transform his final hours, and even his own passing, into a shared and sacred communion that will stay with our family forever. He now joins his noble spirit with his late wife Dee Dee and his beloved daughter Shea.
His example of strength and hope in the face of loss will be now be needed by his surviving children, Sheri, Robert, and John; and his brilliant grandchildren, Geordon, Garrett, Quinn, and Daniel.
Bill grew up in Peterborough Ontario, playing hockey for the Peterborough Petes Junior B team before moving on to the Oshawa Generals in the OHL. He was invited to the Boston Bruins training camp by his old teammate, Harry Sinden. But after only a few weeks away from home, his heart told him what his mind hadn't gleaned. He was in love.
He came back home and married his sweetheart. But hockey was always a passion. He travelled the world playing hockey and drinking beer with friends that would last a lifetime. From "The Big Boys" of St. Pats to Coach's Sunday morning games, many of Bill's fondest memories arose from musty dressing rooms filled with laughter and beer.
Our warmest thanks to the staff of Brampton Civic Hospital. To Dr. Collins, our angel, we have no words...please know you are in our hearts.
