William Charles Holmes
July 5, 1964 to March 17, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Holmes on March 17, 2026 at 61 years of age.
Bill passed at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood Ontario after a year-long battle with cancer.
Bill loved his family wholeheartedly and he will be deeply missed by his beloved partner of 24 years, Bernie O'Leary, and his loving son, Chris.
Bill loved his family and loved spending time with them. Bill is survived by his mother, Doris, his sister Dana and her husband, Anto, as well as his nieces, Daniella and Nadia and his nephew, Anthony. Bill will also be missed by his large family in Canada and Malta, including many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as friends and neighbors. Bill loved spending time with his nieces watching old movies and introducing them to cheesy TV from his childhood.
Bill is predeceased by his son, Robert age 15 in 2009 and his father William (Bill) in 2024.
Bill enjoyed a long career at Mevotech, which spanned over thirty years where he was well respected and admired. His colleagues describe Bill as welcoming, positive, selfless, kind and was always willing to lend a hand to others even to his own detriment. He believed every problem could be solved with a cup of coffee and made meetings more enjoyable with his quick wit and great sense of humor. He had the natural ability to say the right things to make you feel better. He was incredibly easy to be around and you always walked away feeling just a little bit better.
Bill also loved to travel and had traveled quite extensively. Traveling was an important part of his work, and he cherished the opportunity to explore different cities while traveling for business. In fact, the more planes it took to get to a destination, the more exciting it was for him. He enjoyed the airports and has always been fascinated by both airports and airplanes. He was an avid collector of Aeroplan points and loved using them to travel with his family.
Bill was also a natural host and cook. He loved cooking and it came naturally to him. Everyone enjoyed his dinner parties, your glass was never empty and you never left feeling hungry.
Bill was intelligent and articulate, and could speak confidently on many subjects. Bill was also a great historian. He loved reading about World War II and Jewish and German history, and had an extensive book collection on the subject. Always able to make conversation, Bill could talk to you at length about movies, TV, current events, books, history and even wine and cheese.
We love you Bill and we will all miss you forever!
Due to Bill's wishes, services will be private.
