Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Fenton, who was born on March 27, 1925, in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. He passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his family just 12 days shy of his 101st birthday.

He grew up in Northern Ireland alongside his three sisters and younger brother until he enlisted to the British Royal Air Force at the age of 17. He served as a flight engineer on Lancaster bombers in World War II and was stationed overseas. After the war William emigrated to Canada with his wife seeking opportunity and a better future. William worked multiple jobs and took management courses at Ryerson. He rose through the ranks at the T. Eaton Company managing and optimizing many of their flagship stores and being part of their senior leadership, he retired at age 65 with over 40 year’s service. He built a life rooted in family, faith, hard work, and perseverance.

William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria Fenton (McCready). He was a devoted and loving father to Brian, Linda (Noel), Steve (Carol), Garry (Charlotte), and Greg (Kathy) and a proud and cherished grandfather to Scott (Kristina), Laura (Steve), Chelsea, Jack, and Grace, and great grandfather to Lexi and Lucas.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him, including our extended family at Malton Village LTC. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Formal service arrangements to follow, however we will be celebrating his 101st birthday with an informal celebration of life on March 27th from 1:00 to 3:00 at Malton Village LTC, 7075 Rexwood Blvd, Mississauga, ON, L4T 4M1.

In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
