W. Nelson Thomson

Went to be with his Lord on February 27, 2014 in his 85th year, surrounded by his family at home. Loving husband of Hylda Thomson (nee Martin) for nearly 60 years. Proud and loving father of Cathie (David), Deborah (Patrick), Mary Ellen (Michel), Michael and Matthew. Delighted Grand-papa of Carolyn, Janice, Dana (Adam), Christa, Sara (Owen), Andrew, Naomi, Elyssa, Jeremy, Nicolas, Tristan, Joshua, Genevieve, Jonathan, Benjamin and Bronwen. Dear brother of Jim Thomson (Gail). Nelson faithfully served as a French Baptist Minister and Dean of the French Baptist seminary (C.E.T.E.) in Montreal from 1955-1996. He graduated with his B.D. from McMaster and completed both his STM and Ph.D. from McGill. He was later given an Honorary Doctorate (D.D.) from McMaster in 1998 for his extensive contribution to the French Church in Canada.
We would like to thank his grandson Andrew Currey for participating in his care along with his many caregivers from Paramed and the Red Cross. Thank you to the pastoral staff at First Baptist, Fort Erie, who ministered to him over the years he was a shut-in. Visitation to be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at First Baptist Fort Erie (165 Bertie St, Fort Erie) from 1-2:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m.
A family interment will take place in the Spring at Whitevale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Matthew House in Fort Erie would be appreciated.

Père fier et aimant de Cathie (David), Deborah (Patrick), Mary Ellen (Michel), Michael et Matthew. Grand-papa ravi de Carolyn Janice, Dana (Adam), Christa, Sara (Owen), Andrew, Naomi,Elyssa, Jeremy, Nicolas, Tristan, Joshua, Geneviève, Jonathan, Benjamin et Bronwen. Cher frère de Jim Thomson (Gail). Nelson a fidèlement servi comme pasteur baptiste français et doyen du séminaire Baptiste français (CETE) à Montréal de 1955 à 1996.Il a obtenu son B.D. de l'Université McMaster et complété à la fois son STM et son doctorat de l'Université McGill.Il a ensuite été décerné un doctorat honorifique (DD) de l'Université McMaster en 1998 pour sa grande contribution aux églises françaises au Canada.Nous tenons à remercier son petit-fils Andrew Currey pour sa participation à ses soins ainsi qu'aux nombreux aidants de Paramed et la Croix-Rouge. Merci à l'équipe pastorale à l'église First Baptist, Fort Erie qui l'on accompagné au cours des dernieres années de sa maladie. Les visites se tiendront le samedi 8 Mars 2014, au First Baptist Fort Erie (165 Bertie St, Fort Erie) de 1-2:30 h suivi d'un service funèbre à 14h30 L'enterrement aura lieu au printemps au cimitiere de Whitevale. En lieu et place de fleurs, un don peut etre fait à la Maison Matthew à Fort Erie (Matthew House Fort Erie).
