In Loving Memory of Vinda Moneta Bailey
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Vinda Moneta Bailey, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Etobicoke General Hospital at the age of 89.
Born in Barbados to the late Edwin and Cordelia Blackman, Vinda moved to England at the age of sixteen before making Weston, Ontario her home. She was known for her strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and church community.
Vinda was a devoted wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, mentor, and friend. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Joyce, Anthony, and Juneia (Dolly), and was predeceased by her siblings Eugene, Cora, Myrtle, Keith, and Roger. She is also fondly remembered by her sister- and brothers-in-law James, Nathaniel, Alvin, and Jasodra.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved nieces and nephews: Marcia, Judy (Consuelo), Gregory, Sandra, Joy, Cheryl, Susannie, Dave, Kim, Quinn, Alvin Jr., Lana, Tracy, Andrea, Anthony Jr., Marie, Nicole, Amanda, Ramona, Marcella, Louisa, Loreen, Leroy, Stedmond, Paula, Teresa, Jevon, and Greg.
She was also a proud great-aunt to Joyann, Dana, Anderson, David Jr., Kevin, Ophelia, the late Consuela, Joel, Chantel, Gregory Jr., Andrew, Benjamin, Phyllicia, Britney, Keara, Eden, Naomi, James, Qamar and Taaliyah as well as many other great-great-nieces and nephews.
A woman of deep faith, Vinda found great joy in cooking and baking for family and friends. She did everything with excellence and pride. Her kindness, generosity, empathy, sense of humour, directness (feisty) and loving spirit touched all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion, service, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be held at Ward Funeral Home on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. In memory of Vinda, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Rest in peace, dear Vinda. Your love, faith, and beautiful legacy will never be forgotten.
