Passed away at the age of 88 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on February 24, 2011. Vern was the dearest husband and loving companion of Barbara for 61 years, and the father of Lynn (John) Gilbank, Lynda (Chris) Newton, and James Cameron (Sheila). He was the devoted grandfather of Ben, Richard, Meghan, Emily, Dylan and Ciara. Vern was a WW2 RCAF pilot. He was President of Pilkington Glass Industries Canada; Chairman of the CMA; Vice Chairman of OECD in Paris; and a director of the Canadian National Exhibition and several other companies. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville (905-844-3221).
