Verina Brandolino

Our loving mother Verina Brandolino passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025 in her 99th year! Verina (nee DiSera) was born in Caramanico, San Vittorino, Italy on May 26, 1927 to parents Rosario and Maria DiSera. She grew up in Italy with her 3 siblings.

In 1947 she married Carlo Brandolino and together they moved to Canada and created a wonderful life here with their 3 children, Rosana, Rosario (Ray) and Antonio (Tony). Verina was pre-deceased by Carlo in 2012, her husband of 64 years and is survived by Rosana (Paul Whittam), Ray, and Tony (Mayda). Verina was blessed with 5 wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeffrey Rock), Christina, Darian, Noah (Charlotte), Tristan, and 2 great- grandchildren, Brayden and Serena.

Verina was a true matriarch and so loving as a Nonna. She will be remembered for her Sunday meals, her amazing baked cookies and pizzelles, and her constant care and concern for others with her daily phone calls to check on the safe arrival home from work and school for each of her children and grandchildren. Although she was burdened with severe arthritis, Verina lived as active a life as possible and loved spending time with her grandchildren in the backyard, tending to her vegetable garden with her late husband Carlo, and picking fresh apples, apricots, pears, plums cherries, and figs from their many fruit trees. In her later years, the physical demands of arthritis and the impact of advancing dementia required that Verina move to Villa Colombo Vaughan, where she lived from 2016 through to her final days before her last few weeks in palliative care at Cortellucci Hospital.

Special thanks go out to Dr. Li and the palliative care team at Cortellucci for their compassionate attendant care over Verina’s last 17 days and the wonderful team at Villa Colombo Vaughan for the amazing care and programming for Verina during her time as a resident.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Parish (300 Ansley Grove Road, Woodbridge) at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Westminster.
