September 22, 1942 to October 15, 2026
Vera passed peacefully at the age of 84 in palliative hospital surrounded by family, love and memories of a life well lived. She was the beloved wife of William for 64 years, loving mother to Wanda (Ed), Bill (Heather) and proud Nanny to Jessica, Corey, and great grandma (GG) to Mac.
Vera is the last of her 7 siblings, Grace, Mabel, May, Herbert, Walter, James (Junior), and Judy.
She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Born in Creston, Newfoundland to James Mayo of Creston and Marjorie Hollett of Lewinscove, Newfoundland. She came to Toronto in 1961 at the age of 19 with her soon to be husband, Bill. She married the love of her life in March 1962.
In her younger years, she was a stay at home mom with her children, then worked as a Key Punch Operator for Woolco/Woolworths for 15 years. She loved her place of employment and enjoyed going to work everyday.
Upon retiring in 1995, she moved to North Bay for quieter living and fresh air. Here in North Bay, she had much love with a sister, family and beloved friends around her here as well.
She loved travelling, camping, playing Bingo, cards and spending time with family and friends.
She was a warm, kind and loving lady who would do anything for anyone. Her generosity and caring nature touched the lives of those around her and she will be remembered for this love she gave freely.
Mom's sudden passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created, and the kindness she showed will live on. She will always be remembered for her loving heart, her generosity and her unwavering devotion to family.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love by all who knew her.
As per her wishes, a private Celebration of Life will follow and there will be so much to celebrate.
