It is with sadness and joy that I bring the news of Velma (nee Cation) Ball's promotion to glory, on October 31, 2026 in her 101st year. She passed with her good friend Carolyn close by her side. Velma is pre-deceased by James, her beloved husband of 78 years and their cherished son David.
We feel Velma chose this date so she could be with Jim to celebrate his heavenly birthday on November 1st.
Velma grew up the only child of Myrtle and Henry Cation, in numerous places throughout the western provinces of Canada before her family settled in Toronto.
Velma and Jim met in a bowling alley in Toronto shortly after WW2, marrying in 1948 and welcoming their much prayed for son David in 1958.
Velma was a quiet woman of few words but when she spoke Jim and David did their best to listen and support whatever she had to say.
Aunt Velma will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law Ida Young, (pre-deceased) and her brother-in-law, Danny Ball's (pre-deceased) families; three generations of nieces, and nephews.
2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” (NLT)
Internment and a family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice, the CNIB, or Canadian Legion.
