Vassiliki passed away peacefully on Sunday January 22, 2012 with her family by her bedside. Wife for 50 years of Elias, Loving grandmother of Peter, Christopher, Amanda and Stephanie, Proud mother of Peter and Chris and their spouses Rosie and Tina. Loving sister of Peter, predeceased brother Philip and sister Georgia. Vassiliki will also be greatly missed by her extended family – nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
Immigrating to Canada in 1957 and married in 1962, Elias and Vassiliki settled in Montreal until the 70's, when they moved to New York for a better life. In 1981 they moved to Delaware Avenue in Toronto where they settled and raised their family. Vassiliki was a homemaker and also worked as a sewing machine operator. She enjoyed countless happy summers in her garden, organizing family dinners and caring for her grandchildren. Birthdays were always a big occasion as she would go out of her way to make the most beautiful and fun cakes – she loved her family with all her heart. We will miss her deep and unwavering love for us.
After several years of suffering with Alzheimer’s, we are comforted to know she is now resting in peace.
The family would like to thank Dr.Varga, the staff at Hellenic Home and Toronto Western Hospital for the exceptional care she received.
If desired and in lieu of flowers, a donation in Vassiliki's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Research by calling 416-967-5900.
