Ubaldo
Battiston
Jan 28, 1923 — May 18, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished father and grandfather on May 18, 2026, peacefully at the age of 103.
Beloved husband of 67 years to the late Danila (2015), devoted father to Eliana, loving nonno to Cristina. Predeceased by his parents Albino and Giuseppina, his sister Ilde and his brother Fernando. He will be held dear in the hearts of his sisters-in-law Vittorina and Lucilla, his nieces and nephews, relatives, and many friends.
Ubaldo was born in Azzano Decimo, Friuli, Italy, where he met and married his cherished wife, Danila. Driven by the dream of a better life, he travelled to Canada in 1949. Danila joined him in 1950, and they started a life in Toronto. They embraced their new homeland and through years of hard work and dedication, they turned that dream into reality. His greatest pride and joy was his family. Ubaldo and Danila were both extremely supportive parents and grandparents.
Ubaldo was a kind, selfless man with a gentle spirit, integrity and a sense of humour. Always ready to lend a hand, his humble and optimistic nature masked a quiet strength. He happily shared his many life experiences and war stories; he was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
His passion was spending time with family and friends, travelling, dancing, building and fixing things, tending to his vegetable garden, walking and staying active. He enjoyed watching sports especially his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, hoping upon hope he would see them win another Stanley Cup.
Ubaldo forged many friendships at the Village of Humber Heights where he lived for the past four and a half years. Very social, he loved taking part in the recreational activities, listening to the musical entertainment or having a good chat which he often ended with one of his favourite sayings: “Don’t work too hard” or “Good evening, good night, AND good morning”.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the entire Village team for their dedication and compassionate care. An extra special thank you to Bose, Kalsang and Kiesha for your kindness, support and friendship.
