Tina Brigida Colucci (née Pierri)
December 26, 1930 – August 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Tina Brigida Colucci (née Pierri). Tina passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on August 15, 2025, at the age of 94 at Toronto General Hospital.
Born on December 26, 1930, in Taranto, Italy, to Alfonso and Antonia Pierri, Tina was one of six children. On April 26, 1951, she married the love of her life, Vito, and together they built a marriage lasting 74 beautiful years. Their bond was one of unwavering devotion, and Vito will miss her dearly. Tina's proudest legacy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Maria Lume, Michael (Joanne Micallef), Anthony (Maria Spizzirri), and Richard. She was delighted in her role as Nonni to Alexandria (Duncan Kennedy), Michael Vito, Giancarlo (Melissa Andula), Victoria (Joseph Filice), Anthony (Patricia Gulla), and Matthew. She was further blessed to become Bisnonna to Levi and Oliver (Kennedy). She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren, filling their lives with stories, laughter, and wisdom. She always ensured that those she loved were happy and cared for—reminding them that if they ever needed anything, they could count on her. Whether through a visit, a meal, or simply a phone call, she was always there. Tina was our favourite name to appear on our phone, our favourite way to spend an afternoon, and a constant source of love and reassurance. She made us feel protected, like we belonged, and that we would always have a second home with her.
Tina was blessed with a remarkable talent as a seamstress, lovingly creating wedding gowns and clothing for her family. She often went to great lengths to ensure the fabric was perfect, pouring her heart into every stitch so that the person wearing her creation felt not only beautiful, but truly cared for. Her meticulous attention to detail reflected her deepest wish: to bring joy and happiness to those she loved. Her detail-oriented hands also fashioned treasures for the youngest members of her family—handmade bassinets for her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren—each one crafted with the same devotion and love that defined everything she did. Her hands also crafted countless memories through her cooking: handmade pasta, baked goods from scratch, and recipes that no one could quite replicate—because Nonni always added a little extra love.
Tina had a deep love of travel and embraced every opportunity to see the world. Her journeys took her across Europe, Africa, and South America, each adventure enriching her life with culture, beauty, and unforgettable memories. She especially cherished her time in Palm Beach, where she spent winters surrounded by a close-knit group of Toronto friends.
She carried a lifelong appreciation for the arts, especially live theatre and opera, and held a deep admiration for classic fashion—always carrying herself with timeless grace and elegance. Her family will deeply miss her presence around the table—whether in Toronto, Palm Beach, or on summer weekends in Wasaga Beach—where her laughter, stories, and love made every gathering unforgettable. Tina’s journey was not without challenges. She showed remarkable resilience, mastering the English language by teaching herself to read and write, ensuring her children received an excellent education, and building a solid foundation for their professional lives. Through years of sacrifice, she remained a guiding force, developing beautiful friendships that endured throughout her lifetime. Her strength was perhaps most evident in the countless hours she spent in hospitals when her family needed her. She was steadfast, loyal, and unwavering in her commitment to those she loved. She was always a phone call away. Tina's life was defined by love—love for her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her many friends. She was a storyteller who could make you laugh by the way she pronounced certain words in her Italian accent, and her warmth and humour brought joy to everyone around her. She was not just Nonni to her grandchildren—she was everybody’s Nonni. Her commitment to the comfort and happiness of others was one of the most treasured characteristics of her larger-than-life personality. She wanted only good things for those around her—love, family, friendship—and she embodied those values each and every day. She was our guiding light, and without her, the world feels a little dimmer. Yet her lessons of resilience, joy, and unconditional love will live on in all of us. We could not have asked for a more loyal and devoted Mother, Nonni, Bisnonna, and friend. She will live forever in our hearts and minds. May she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tina's memory (on behalf of Matthew and Giancarlo Colucci) can be made to the Sick Kids Foundation.
