It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Tom who died peacefully in his sleep October 28th in his 86th year at his Long Term Care facility in Barrie. Beloved husband for 59 years to Margaret Ann. Loving Father of Barry (Linda predeceased), Stephen (Carol), Jeff (Elsa) & Phil (Carol). Grandfather to Kyle, Leanna, Paige, Abbey, Daniel & David. Brother to Al (Coleen predeceased) , Dave (Danielle) and brother in law to Marie (Jack predeceased) . Uncle to many nieces and nephews in both Canada & England. Tom was born January 11, 1930 to James and Divina Brown in Toronto. He worked for over 30 years with Canada Post as a letter carrier at Station T on Dufferin St. until his retirement in 1990. He was fondly know as TJ around the station and played euchre every day with fellow “posties” between his mail routes. In retirement he was a crossing guard in Brampton for over 10 years. He received a commendation from the city of Brampton for saving a child from being hit by a car while performing his crossing guard duties. He enjoyed living at the Sandy Cove retirement community for the last 5 years. The Family would like to thank the caregivers that looked after him at IOOF in Barrie. Tom suffered with dementia and Parkinson’s in his final years. We will miss him dearly, may he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations to IOOF Seniors Home Inc, Barrie, Ont., in Thomas's name would be greatly appreciated.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service in the Ward Chapel on Tuesday November 1st, 2016 at 1pm. Cremation to follow.
