With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Thea Krul (Lam)
Beloved wife and partner to John for 70 years, loving mother of Bob (Cory), Judy, Trish (Joel). Cherished Grandma of James, Leanne (Ryan), Curtis (Kelli), Jeff, Brooklynn, Jeremy, Ryan, David, and Emma. Proud Great Grandmother of Willa, and Juni. She was predeceased by herfirst-born daughter Cathy, and earlier this year by her brother, Dick Lam. She also leaves behind extended family in The Netherlands.
Thea was born on July 31, 1931 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She emigrated to Canada in 1953 as a young wife and mother and never looked back. For many years she contributed to her church as organist both in Acton and Holland Christian Homes and sang in the Georgetown Choral Society. She worked as an office manager for Superior Glove Works in Acton and enjoyed any opportunity to learn something new and live a life of gratitude. She loved to read, travel, ride her bike around town, and enjoy a cup of tea in the afternoon with a piece of chocolate.
Despite declining health these last few years, both Mom and Dad enjoyed 30 years of retirement together. During this time Mom joyfully experienced life and offered endless attention to her family. Her dry sense of humour, facial expressions, and keen understanding matched her fierce independence and resourcefulness. She sewed, knit, baked, and always sent cards to family and friends to let them know they were important to her. She always found great joy in an adventure even if it was just a ride to the store.
It's always hard to say goodbye but she knew she was loved and she is at peace with her Saviour.
As an expression of sympathy, donations will be gratefully accepted in her name at The Lighthouse Centre in Toronto. www.lighthousecentre.ca.
A memorial service will be held on November 9 at 1pm for family only due to COVID–19 restrictions but the livestream can be accessed here.
