Teresa Ann Forbes

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Teresa Ann Forbes (nee Barrett) in her 68th year of life. Cherished wife of 41 years to Bif; loving mother of three, Robert (Melanie), Penny, and Tamara; and, proud grandmother of four: Alexis, Camryn, Berkley, and Jack. Beloved eldest sister of five siblings: Eileen (Charlie), Pat (Susan), David (Rose), and Joan (Maurice). Teresa was a fun-loving daughter-in-law (Doreen), sister-in-law (Bruce, Scott, Carol), as well as an aunt, great-aunt, and cousin to many throughout Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. 

Teresa passed away on June 2, 2024, peacefully at her Kleinburg home, surrounded by her loving family after a 13 year battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents John (2012) and Ann (2024) Barrett.   

Teresa’s legacy is one of love, laughter, generosity, boundless positivity, and a zest for life. Teresa will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her but her spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched. Teresa saw the good in all people and accepted them unconditionally with open arms.  

Teresa worked in the court reporting business for over 40 years. Her trailblazing career started with 13 years at the Superior Court in Toronto and her remaining years were as a freelance reporter. Teresa obtained one of the highest national accreditations in North America as a Registered Merit Reporter which requires an impressive shorthand speed of 260 words per minute.  

While she travelled the world transcribing for high-profile litigation cases, Teresa was happiest at the cottage on Twelve Mile Bay where she loved kayaking and being in the company of her extended cottage family.  

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2011, Teresa fought against the odds and lived life to the absolute fullest for the next thirteen years. During this time, she was supported by an amazing group of doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Princess Margaret Hospital and Mackenzie Health Hospital.  

Teresa was the glue that held her family and her many groups of friends together with her indomitable strength, independent spirit and sense of compassion. She leaves an immeasurable loss that will never be forgotten. 

Funeral Mass to be held on Monday June 10th, 2024, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (8500 Islington Ave. Woodbridge) at 10:30 a.m. Celebration of life reception to follow mass service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Research Society or Princess Margaret Hospital.
