It is with deep sadness that we are announcing the peaceful passing of Stilianos (Steve) Xithalis of Toronto, Ontario, on September 6, 2026. 

He was a beloved Husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Born in Lamia Greece, on June 16, 1943, he was one of 6 children in a family consisting of 3 brothers and two sisters. He is reunited with his beloved wife Daphni in heaven. Together they rest in God’s eternal embrace. 

Stilianos was a hard worker from his teenage years and continued to show strength and resilience when he entered the Greek Army. He excelled, reaching a position of Captain of the Para Troopers. We always joked with him regarding his uneasiness of flying, as he would have felt better jumping from the plane, which he did many hundreds for time, rather than sit in a passenger's seat. Once army service was completed, Stilianos held a successful career in construction, which brought him a sense of accomplishment and happiness. While working and enjoying evenings within the nightlife of Lamia, he met his wife Daphni. They married and built a family with 2 children. They enjoyed life to the fullest and decided to adventure outside of Greece, moving to Toronto Canada. They came with suitcases and very little money, lived with relatives, were immediately employed in a Steel factory, met new people, and built life long relationships in their new country. Such relationships included a friend with whom they became so close that he was bestowed the honor of baptizing his daughter Mary. He adored his goddaughter as if she were his own child. Stilianos and his spouse were lucky enough to see both of their children, Angelo and Sophie, marry and start their own lives. His greatest joy was the arrival of his grandchildren Daphne and Stelio. They were the shining light of happiness in his life. 

Stilianos and his spouse spent time at various functions at people’s homes for name days and other celebrations, and enjoyed entertaining friends in their own home for the same such events. Stilianos was involved in Greek Associations, specifically the Athanasios Diakos association. Stilianos made lifelong friends in the West End of Toronto by meeting other Greek parents of children that attended his son’s schools, both English and Greek. The times they spent together were always joyous and a true representation of their friendship. Stilianos is survived by two brothers Andrea and Kosta, sister Mary, son Angelo and daughter Sophie, son-in-law, Chris, daughter-in-law Maria, grandchildren Stelio and Daphne, and many nieces and nephews. Stilianos is preceded in death by his beloved wife Daphni, brother Tassos and sister Vasso.
