GRANDY, Stella (nee Crews)
October 13, 1928 - March 27, 2023

God welcomed Stella peacefully into His domain on Monday March 27 in the presence of her sons. This was very much her wish and hope. Stella got her wish. Is very contented and now very much at peace.

Beloved wife of her late husband Caleb and mother to sons Ross, Edward and Donald. She will also be missed by all her many family and friends.

Stella often joked that she immigrated to Canada without actually moving. Technically, she was born in part of Great Britain, but became Canadian in 1949. As with Great Britain itself, from Point Crewe, Newfoundland, the town of her birth, France (St. Pierre) could easily be seen.

She loved to knit. She would volunteer knitting for the Red Cross, Weston Area Emergency Support and several Church organizations. She would also knit toy mice for Samantha (cat), who always loved her Christmas present each year. Stella continued knitting until Macular Degeneration claimed her eyesight.

The last two years of Stella’s life were filled with many health challenges. But, she persevered as the Lord continued to have purpose for her. She felt that she did not have a strong faith, but many religious leaders often commented that they rarely met anyone with as such a strong faith as she did.

Stella was an extremely devoted mother to her sons. She always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Each son has become a Licensed Engineer. Her sense of honesty and fair play have been instilled in each.

Friends and family will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, ON Sunday, April 2nd from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm, as well as on Monday, April 3rd from 11:30am until the service in the Weston Chapel at 1:00pm.

Interment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Maps will be provided.

Guests are invited back to Ward Funeral Home for some light refreshments after the interment.

It is Stella’s wish that for expressions of sympathy to please consider a donation to either the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Society, St. Mary and St. Martha Anglican Church, or CNIB.

For anyone wishing to also send flowers in honour of Mrs. Stella Grandy, is being asked that they be delivered to the funeral home no later than 12:00pm on Sunday, April 2nd.
