Shirley Ann Foster was peacefully promoted to glory on August 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away knowing just how deeply she was cherished.
Born into the Salvation Army and christened at West Toronto Corps in May 1934, Shirley’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She worshipped for many years at Earlscourt Citadel and later at Yorkminster Citadel, where she found community, strength, and spiritual growth. In her later years, the compassionate care she received at the Salvation Army’s Isabelle and Arthur Meighen Manor brought her great comfort and joy, allowing her quiet faith to flourish. Sundays spent in worship—often hand-in-hand with family—were among her most treasured moments.
Family was at the very heart of Shirley’s life. Her boundless love, unwavering dedication, and deep commitment to her daughters, Leanne (Dan Hill) and Lindsay, were matched only by the joy she found in her role as grandmother to Anthony (Christina), Aidan, Liam, Olivia (Jordan), Erin, and Isla (Tanner), and later as great-grandmother to Evelyn, Thomas, and Theo.
Shirley loved fiercely. She faced life’s challenges with grace, resilience, and strength, and brought joy to those around her through her sharp wit, quiet wisdom, and a generous heart that welcomed all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army Isabelle and Arthur Meighen Manor.
