In Loving Memory of Sheila McLeod

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sheila McLeod on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the age of 90.Sheila was predeceased by her beloved parents, Martha and Samuel and by her husband Glenville. She is remembered by her cherished siblings Katie (Michael) and Richard (Jewel). Sheila was a devoted mother to her children, Peter, John, and Francine (Chezlie), who will carry forward her legacy of love, strength and grace. She was also a proud and adoring grandmother to Rachel, Zoe, Alyssa, and Nia, each of whom brought her great joy and pride.

Sheila was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and attended Saint Hilda’s Boarding School, where she formed lifelong friendships with classmates such as Shirley, Marjorie, and June, among others.

After completing her studies at the University of the West Indies and immigrating to Canada, Sheila built a distinguished career spanning over 30 years as a microbiologist at the Toronto Public Health Laboratory. Her dedication, expertise, and strong work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues and contributed significantly to advancements in public health and laboratory science throughout her tenure.

Sheila loved reading, music, flowers, baking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her loved ones.

Sheila‘s warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength have touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
