Prince Samuel Adekola Sanyaolu was born into the royal Sanyaolu family of Owu Abeokuta on 17th September, 1935 in Ilugun Asalu, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He started his primary education at Zaria, Kaduna State, and completed it at the African Christ School, Offa, Kwara State in 1950. He proceeded to the Methodist Boys’ High School (M.B.H.S) in Lagos State in 1951 and completed his secondary education in December 1956 with flying colors.
On completion of his high school education, the Federal Ministry of Works and Surveys employed him. To advance his educational ambition, Prince Adekola Sanyaolu enrolled for the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (A.C.L.S) London examination. He passed the final examinations in 1963. In 1966, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the British Overseas Development Authority offered him a scholarship to study Public Sector Accounting and Audit in England. On completion of his training, he was seconded to the Ministry of External Affairs (Now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) as a diplomat.
As a Nigerian Diplomat, he served in the following Nigerian embassies – Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, Switzerland, Somalia, and the Republic of Guinea, to mention a few. As part of his duties, he traveled extensively within Europe and Africa. After serving in various overseas missions for 15 years, he returned to Nigeria in 1984. On his return, he was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, where he retired in 1993 as an Assistant Director.
Prince Adekola Sanyaolu married Late Princess Olayinka Sanyaolu, and the marriage was blessed with five children and many grandchildren. He was a father figure to many more people, including sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and extended family members. We will remember him as a loving, caring, and devoted father and grandfather who took the interests of all his children and family to heart.
Daddy, there is no gainsaying that you lived a good life and you left us a legacy that we will forever cherish. Sleep on until we meet again on the resurrection day.
Prince Samuel Adekola Sanyaolu is survived by Children, Grandchildren, In-Laws, Siblings, and Cousins.
May the soul of Samuel Adekola Sanyaolu rest in perfect peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.
