Salme Anneli Del Giudice (née Laamanen)
April 17, 1940 – July 20, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Salme Anneli Del Giudice (née Laamanen), who passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at 7:16 p.m., at her home in Vaughan, Ontario, at the age of 86. Salme was born on April 17, 1940, in Puumala, Finland, to Nikolai and Lydia (Hytti) Laamanen. She spent her childhood on the beautiful islands of Lake Saimaa, where she learned the values of resilience, hard work, perseverance, and the importance of family—qualities that remained with her throughout her life. After immigrating to Canada, Salme built a successful career as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). A respected and dedicated professional, she was known for her integrity, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to helping others throughout her career before retiring. Above all else, Salme was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, Ermanno Del Giudice, and a proud and supportive mother to her daughters, Laura Del Giudice (Tim MacDougall) and Veronica Burch (née Del Giudice). Her greatest joy was being "Nonna" to her beloved grandchildren, Leia and Cohen, who brought endless happiness and pride to her life. Those who knew Salme will remember her quiet strength, generous heart, incredible cooking and deep appreciation for family, nature, and the simple pleasures of life. Her Finnish heritage remained an important part of who she was, and she carried with her a lifelong love of the forests of her childhood, and the enduring values instilled by her parents. Salme's legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the kindness she shared, and the countless lives she touched with her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering love. She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
