Salvina “Sally” Roberto Italiano

It is with great sadness, but also with many wonderful memories, that we announce the peaceful passing of Salvina “Sally” Roberto Italiano, surrounded by her family.

Sally was the last surviving sibling of the Roberto family, and with her passing comes the end of a remarkable generation whose traditions, stories, laughter and love have been woven through our family for more than a century.

She was predeceased by her parents, Filippo Roberto and Rafaela Vescio Roberto; her sister Maria and her husband Louis Malinsky; her brother Peter and his wife Talina; her brother Fiori and his wife Phyllis Gentle; her brother Jimmy; her sister Annie; her sister Jenny and her husband Mike: her sister Yolanda and her husband Ken Henwood.

Sally will be deeply missed by her daughter Teresa and her husband Carmen Cogliano, and by her grandchildren Matthew and his wife Melissa, and Andrew and his wife Allie. She was a proud great-nana to Ethan, Ella, Lottie, Olive, and Poppy.

Auntie Sally will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Harvey and Chris, Shelly (predeceased), Tina, Philip, Patty, Lorenzo, Raffi and Roy, Anna Maria and Barry, Philip (Kim), Linda and John, Janine (Kirk), and Michael (Christina), Maryann (predeceased) and Rachell (predeceased), as well as her extended family and many friends.

To her family, Sally was a constant—a woman of strong faith, a generous heart and a wonderful ability to accept people as they were. She was, in so many ways, the glue that helped hold the family together.

She also knew how to enjoy life. There was always warmth, laughter and just a little bit of mischief along the way.

For those fortunate enough to have called her Mom, Nana, Great-Nana, Auntie Sally or simply Sally, she will be deeply missed and very fondly remembered.

Thank you to Dr. Buchanan and her palliative care team at Mount Sinai Hospital, her personal support worker Sevait and her caregiver Jovie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sally’s name to the SickKids Foundation.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (72 Mansfield Avenue, Toronto) on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
