Roy Aplin

VERNON ROY APLIN Peacefully at the Trillium Health Center in Mississauga on Saturday, January 29, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, Roy passed away in the loving arms of his family. Beloved husband and best friend of Vera in their sixtieth year of marriage. Dearly loved father of Glenn, and Dianne (Kirkpatrick) and her husband Robert. Cherished grandfather of Kailey and Tyler Kirkpatrick and Rebecca Aplin. Roy was predeceased by his parents and his loving brother Norman. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Irene Aplin and Audrey Weaver and the late George, brother-in-law Bill and Jessie Barton and his nieces and nephews. Roy was a District Chief with the Etobicoke Fire Department with 31 years of faithful service. He was also a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church on Bathurst Street in Toronto. Family and friends may be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Avenue) on Monday, January 31 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, February 1 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. A special thank you to Drs. Gapski and Hung and the staff of the Oncology Unit for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
