Rosina Marchese

Iolanda Marchese was the youngest of 11 children. She was born in Cervinara on January 1, 1924 when her mother was 51 years old. Her father died when she was 12 years old and she had to work on the family farm to help her siblings. She met her soulmate in 1945 and married in in 1947. When her husband migrated to Canada in 1954 she was left alone to care for children and the farm. She had three children and ultimately also migrated to Canada in 1960 to join her husband who had been there for 6 years. She worked at the Seaway Hotel and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always the life of her party.

She will be missed by her children Francesco (Pasqualina), Giovanna (Pietro), Filomena (Angelo).

She will also be missed by her 9 grandchildren - Marianna, Carmine, Pasquale, Iolanda, Concetta, Giovanna, Pietro, Petrina, and Marco.

And also 16 great great children - Giuliana, Paolo, Pietro, Angelica, Giuseppe, Cosimo, Giacomo, Sienna, Gemma, Giordano, Angelia, Victoria, Alessia, Jaxon, Antonio, Nickangelo.

She was a very determined and a very strong lady. She led a full life and never ever give up on anything she tried. She was always optimistic and was always ready to provide advise even if it was not asked. She claims that her long life was due to a glass of red wine that she had every day until the very end.

Anytime anyone in the family had a headache she was ready to do the “malocchio” and it actually worked.

She was very generous in giving monetary gifts to her grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mother we will miss you greatly and will never forget how much you cared for everyone in the family.

Friends and family will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel, 2035 Weston Road on Sunday, July 3 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday, July 4th at 9:30am at All Saints Catholic Church 1415 Royal York Road, Etobicoke, ON.
