We announce the peaceful passing of our matriarch Rose Cassar. Rose passed away with her loving family at her side on May 31, 2023, in her 88th year. Born to Mary & Carmelo Parascandalo, in Malta, on November 23, 1935.

In 1964 she immigrated to Canada and was reunited with her husband, she courageously made the trip here with her 5 young children in tow, with another child soon to join and with the hope of providing a better life for them. Rose, not unlike many Maltese women of her generation, was an exceptional hostess, always cooking & keeping an impeccable home. But she was so much more: she was personable, witty & generous, all the while she was stern and stubborn when she needed to be. She lovingly controlled her home & would do anything for her family & asked for nothing in return but honesty, kindness & hard work.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Sam of 65 years. Loving mother of late Tony, late Miriam (John), Michael (Sandy), late Francis, Joseph (Steve), late Louise (Leroy) & Ray (Lucy). Cherished grandmother of Jason (Linda), Courtney (Terry), Erica (Luca), Michelle (Adrian), Nicholas (Jessica), Samantha (Romeo), Samantha (Quewin) & Laura (Arthur).Proud great grandmother of Emma, Olivia, Louis, Leo, Nathaniel, Evan, Emilia, Celine, Cali Rose, Sebastian, Madeleine, Chloe, and Christian. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, nieces & nephews both in Canada & Malta.

A pillar of strength, the heartbeat of the Cassar family, and the most incredible woman, we will miss you until we meet again.

Friends and family are welcome to gather at the Ward Funeral Home, Woodbridge Chapel 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Parish 100 Bainbridge, Ave., Woodbridge on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Rose’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
