Rosa Simonetta
July 17, 1932 – February 25, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosa Simonetta (née Tassone) on February 25, 2026, at the age of 93.
Rosa was born on July 17, 1932, in Serra San Bruno (Catanzaro), Calabria, Italy, to her loving parents, Biagio and Brunina. In 1954 she immigrated to Canada where she would marry her beloved Raffaele, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in love, sacrifice, and devotion. She is now reunited in heaven with her cherished husband, her greatest love and lifelong partner.
Rosa was the devoted and proud mother of Biagio (Adele), MaryAnn (Anthony), Oreste (Lisa), and Silvana (Peter). Her life was filled with joy as her family grew to include 11 treasured grandchildren: Melissa Rose, Marc (Shannon), Amanda (Alexander), Michael (Sara), Alana, Paul (Mary), Victoria (Matthew), Julia (Luca), Jenna (Robert), Max, and Sierra. She was also a deeply loving Bisnonna to her 11 great-grandchildren: Madalyn, Luca, Adam, Sofia, Scarlett, Evelyn, Alessia, Layla, James, Marco, and Anthony.
Rosa will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Sara (Biagio), Natalina (Aldo), and Assunta (Bruno), as well as her sister-in-law Tina and brother-in-law Fernando. She now joins in eternal rest her beloved parents, her siblings Giuseppe, Raffaele, and Rita, and her little angel, baby girl Simonetta.
Rosa also held deep love for Raffaele’s family and embraced them as her own. She is reunited in heaven with her parents-in-law Biagio and Marianna, her brothers-in-law Michele (Teresa), Angelo, Giuseppe (Bruna), and Salvatore, and her sister-in-law Assuntina. She leaves behind her cherished in-laws Gina, Emma, Vittorio (Anne Marie), and Agostino (Giovanna), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
To know Rosa was to know unwavering devotion. She loved her family fiercely and without condition. She was a woman of incredible strength, resilience, and determination. Feisty in spirit and strong in will, Rosa faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. Even in the most difficult times, she carried an amazing sense of humor that brought light and laughter to those around her. Her faith sustained her throughout her life; it guided her decisions, comforted her in hardship, and remained a source of hope and peace.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she longed to see again. Her legacy lives on in every story shared, every tradition continued, and every act of love inspired by her example. She will be forever missed, forever remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
If desired, a tree may be planted in memory of Rosa.
