It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Mrs. Rosa Ricchetti on June 20, 2026, at the age of 98.
Born on June 2, 1928, in Faeto, Italy, Rosa lived a life defined by devotion, generosity, faith, and family. She is now reunited with her husband, Antonio Ricchetti, whom she first met while dancing in their hometown shortly after WW II ended and they married within a short time thereafter. Their almost 60-year marriage continued until the untimely death of her husband on May 20, 2003.
Rosa will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her two devoted sons, Vincent (Chris predeceased) and Leonard (Elizabeth). Rosa’s grandchildren: Tiffany (Anthony), Sabrina (Eric), Shane, James (Rosanna), Michael (Chelsea), Alexander (Kayla), and Robert (Mariah); and her great-grandchildren: Ava, Siena, Christina, Charlea, Millie, Elena, Madison, Alexa, Fable, Lincoln, and Daniella will dearly miss their “nonna”.
Rosa is also survived by her loving siblings, Filomena and Mario.
After living and working for 10 years in Italy, Rosa and Antonio's sought out better life and opportunities for their two sons. Antonio immigrated to Canada in 1955, where Rosa courageously followed in 1956 with their two sons, making the long journey by boat to begin their new chapter.
Family was the center of Rosa’s world. Nothing brought a greater smile to her face than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aromas of her kitchen. Rosa especially cherished preparing the many holiday feasts that gathered generations of family around her table.
She was also an avid knitter, creating countless treasured handmade gifts that will continue to remind her loved ones of her care and affection. Rosa possessed a remarkable heart and an unwavering commitment to family. In the early years after arriving in Canada, she and Antonio opened their modest home to her parents, two sisters, brother and other relatives from their hometown in Puglia, Italy, helping sponsor and support them as they built new lives in their adopted country.
Her generosity and selflessness touched everyone who knew her. A woman of deep faith, Rosa was devoted to her religion and found comfort and strength in prayer throughout her life. Her kindness, compassion, and quiet strength served as an example to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Rosa’s legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the traditions she passed down, and the countless lives she touched with her love, faith, and generosity.
She will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed. May she rest in eternal peace.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 24, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
