Ronald Frederick Adams Spencer

Spencer, Ronald Frederick Adams; April 17th, 1934 to February 11th, 2021

It is great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our father. Ronald was born in Toronto on April 17th, 1934 and passed away at Brampton Civic Hospital on February 11th, 2021. Ronald was met by his beloved wife Gwen Lauretta Wise (deceased January 27th, 2007). Upon his arrival in heaven Ron and Gwen embraced and then started their new journey with a walk in the park. Ron and Gwen had three children. Larry (Monica), Chris, and Cindy (Sonny). Larry and Monica have two children, Matthew (Jessica) and Allison (Ashton). Gwen and Ron also have seven great grandchildren, Justan, Jackson, Kian, Spencer, Raymond, Lucas, and Gwenie.

Ron spent the last 8 years trying to recover from a bad fall which made him paralyzed from the neck down. He did get back to walking twice. He was doing well with his recovery to the point that he was able to walk then came the fall which broke both ankles. It was fun picking (by Cindy) out his cast colour every week. He recovered from that injury and continued to go to physio. He again was able to get himself to the point of walking and then had another fall which broke one of his legs. He recovered from that but did not get to the point of walking. He was tired and in pain. He no longer had the fortitude to continue his battle to walk again. He is walking now with Gwen by his side.

Ron will be missed by Margaret, a friend from the Seniors Centre, who became a big part of his life. Margaret helped him through his grieving and through his Spinal Cord injury. Ron will also be missed by his brother Brian and many cousins, friends, and staff from Tall Pines Senior Centre.

Ron worked at a few places: delivering groceries, a shoe store, Lumberman's, canvased for the Toronto Star to get money for the new house, and of course Canada Brick (Hanson Brick) which he worked at for over 40 years. There he had a few positions. He became well known for organizing the Dealer's Meeting Weekend and golf tournaments one of them to raise funds for ErinOakKids. Ron was a Social Butterfly and became friends with everyone he met.
