Robert Fritz Welscher, 94, of Barrie, Ontario

May 16, 1930 – May 12, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Welscher, a devoted father and Opa, who passed peacefully on May 12, 2025, just days shy of his 95th birthday. Robert demonstrated extraordinary resilience during a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with his health.

He is survived by his wife, Helga; his sister, Edith; his children, Rita and Perry; his grandchildren, Kyla and Kodie; and his great-grandson, Leo. He was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Bridgette “Gitti,” his older brother, Werner, and his grandson, Joshua.

Known affectionately as Opa, Bob, Bobby, Uncle/Onkel and Urgroßvater, Robert had an unmistakable warmth around him. His stories—always shared with heart and humor—often ended in laughter.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and a simple yet profound philosophy: “Do not forget to smile—you never know who needs it that day.”

His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him. He will be missed beyond words.
