Robert James McDonald
October 29, 1965 – September 21, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" James McDonald, who left us peacefully in the comfort of his bed on the morning of September 21, 2026, at the age of 60.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Bob was a man defined by his quick wit, intelligence, and immense kindness. To know Bob was to know his unmatched generosity—and often, his arrival was marked by the sweet delivery of pastries, a simple gesture that reflected his desire to bring joy to every room he entered.
Bob was a deeply loving and caring son to the late Margaret and William McDonald, and a devoted brother to the late Marie McDonald. He leaves behind his brother, Paul McDonald, who will miss him dearly. Bob was also the beloved nephew of Maryanne Penney, a cherished cousin to Sandra, Sharon, and Owen Penny, and a loyal, close friend to Darlene Muzzatti and Romaine Hunt. Family and friendship meant everything to Bob, and he loved spending every moment he could surrounded by the people who meant the most to him.
Though rooted in Toronto, Bob held a fierce pride in his Newfoundland heritage. He felt a profound connection to the island and its culture, finding great peace and joy in his roots. As he aged, Bob embraced life with an ever-growing sense of adventure, famously taking up thrilling experiences like skydiving and airboating. He possessed a vibrant, forward-looking spirit, working and saving diligently to enjoy a well-deserved retirement in the coming years. Whether he was cheering on his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs or listening to his favorite tracks by Led Zeppelin, Bob approached his passions with genuine enthusiasm.
In accordance with his wishes, Bob’s remains will be cremated. His family will return him to the land he held so dear, spreading his ashes in Newfoundland surrounded by family, where he will rest in eternal peace.
Bob’s humor, warmth, and adventurous spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
