Raycroft, R. James
December 9, 1923 – March 10, 2013
Peacefully at home in his 90th year. Lovingly cared for by his wife of 63 years Shirley (Fraser). Proud father of Ian Raycroft (Francine) and Kathryn Nelson (Mark). Loving grandfather of Nicholas. Predeceased by his sister Bernice Cuttriss.
Born in Hamilton, Jim served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII and graduated from the University of Toronto, Engineering and Business, in 1951. He retired in 1987 as Associate Group Director of the Industrial Group after 34 years with Honeywell, and was instrumental in establishing the Honeywell Retiree Club. An accomplished woodworker with a passion for boating, Jim spent many happy hours as captain of the Manumit on Georgian Bay with first mate Shirley. Their millennium project, to leave Toronto for Oakville, enabled them to make many new friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Glenn Surbey for his dedicated medical care.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Wednesday, March 13 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and Thursday, March 14 from 10-11am. Funeral Service to follow in the chapel at 11am. Friends are invited to a reception at the funeral home following the service.
