With heavy hearts we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Richard (Rik) Kubiak on Wednesday, December 26, 2018; at the age of 70. Beloved and devoted husband to Helen Kubiak for 48 years. Cherished father to Candi (Bill Williams) and missed by his grand-puppy “SaFyre”. Rik was a hard working and devoted family man. He met his future wife for the first time when he was 9 years old, crossing at a light he caught the glimpse of a beautiful girl in a car and told his family that he was going to marry that girl one day. As fate would have it, Rik and Helen attended the same high school and that began the road to him fulfilling the promise he made when he was 9. Rik was extremely proud to be a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge Cyrene Chapter, Rameses Shrine and in particular part of the Hillbilly Shrine Club. He enjoyed figure skating and bike riding but he was happiest when helping others, in particular when raising money to assist children in need. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family and friends. Visitation will take place at Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Rameses Shrine – Montreal Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
