Raymond Ernest Smith

On Monday, September 25, 2023, Ray died peacefully with his children present at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. Born in London England to the late Henry and Lilian Smith. Grew up by the sea in Lowestoft, England. Beloved husband of the late Josephine Smith nee Ash for 37 years. Loving father of Debbi (Allan) Lam and Andrew Smith. Cherished grandfather of Ryan and Nicholas.

Ray crossed the Atlantic at the age of 16 to join his late brother Graham to start a new life in Canada. He married Josephine in 1961 and raised his family in Toronto and Brampton. He was a proud employee of Bell Canada and was a chauffeur for many years. Ray had many passions in life, which included his dogs, model trains, camping and of course, his family.

A special thank you to his caregivers, especially Joanna Oliver and Sandra Ribiero, and the wonderful staff at the Barrieview and Davis Centre in Bolton.

Visitors will be received at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton Ontario, on Sunday, October 1st from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and on Monday October 2 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m..

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga .
