With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Raymond Delima on August 1, 2025 — son of the late Manuel Delima and Maria Conceicao De Lima. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose generous spirit, storytelling, and kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Raymond was a devoted father to Raymond Delima and Ronnita Delima-Oliveira, proud grandfather to Brittney Oliveira, Caitlin Oliveira, and Dominic Oliveira, and a cherished great-grandfather to Preston Ibanez and Evelina Ibanez.
Born in San Miguel, Portugal, Raymond immigrated to Canada at the age of 15 with his parents, beginning a life of hard work and perseverance. He lived in Alliston and Honeywood before finally setting roots in Brampton — where he built a life grounded in love, laughter, and family. He retired after 33 years at Chrysler, known as a hardworking man with a heart of gold. Throughout his life, Raymond was a talented mechanic, always willing to fix a friend’s car and help anyone in need.He had a deep love for cooking and was happiest when preparing meals for others. He made the best cod fish, crab, and shrimp — dishes so loved that people always came back asking for more. His famous Portuguese collard soup, finished with a splash of wine, was a household favourite. His home was filled with warmth, and no one ever left hungry.Raymond was also a gifted storyteller, known for sharing rich, animated tales — many involving his two closest lifelong friends, Victor Oliveira and John Furtado. Their friendship was a source of laughter, strength, and lifelong connection.Along with his stories was his love to play the harmonica. Preston and Evelina, his biggest fans.He loved his pets dearly and found great companionship in them throughout his life. Among his final wishes was to see hisbeloved aunt, Tia Choltilde, now 99 years old, whom he spoke of often and with great affection.Raymond found great peace and joy at his trailer. Even as he slowed down and it needed repairs, he loved being there — surrounded by nature, memories, and simple pleasures. He leaves behind many cousins, and among those who stood faithfully by his side untilthe very end were Amy and Tony Cabral, Albert Reis, Mario Reis, and Ben Reis — whose visits brought him comfort, joy, and the reminder that he was deeply loved.Raymond met and married Linda O’Quinn (divorced), with whom he raised his children, and later found loving companionship with late Sharron Pratley. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, loyalty, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His legacy lives on through the meals he shared, the stories he told, the music he played and the love he gave so freely.
