Her Life’s Dance

She carried music in her bones,

a rhythm no years could quiet.

The floorboards knew her footsteps,

the air knew her voice,

full-bodied, unapologetic,

Her laughter like a song that refuses to fade.

She taught more than lessons in school-

she taught living,

the kind that plants courage in young hearts.

Some never let her go,

hearing her still correcting,

encouraging,

teasing with that spark in her eyes.

Mischief she said was key to living a long life

And she sure lived it-

A revolution in every sunrise.

A big smile that said,

“Go on; live a little louder.”

We will remember the fire in her step,

The way she made everyone dance,

And so we carry her beat forward,

every laugh a rebellion,

every truth a blessing,

every love as fierce and boundless

as her spirit
