It is with profound sadness that the family of Patricia Anne Lucille King Palermo announces her passing on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the age of 82. Born in Toronto to the late Marguerite and Ruskin King, sister to the late Gerald King, Patricia leaves behind her devoted and loving partner, Gordon King, her cherished children, Michelle (Paul), Gregory and Stephen (Denise) and stepchildren Wade (Patty) and Brad (Nancy), her treasured grandchildren Michael (Brooke), Brendan, Virginia, Vincent, Matthew, Katherine, Richelle, Samantha, Hayley, Braden (Stephanie), Andrea (Iain), Brian and David, her precious great-grandsons Griffin and Theo.
After a rewarding career as a research director, Pat went on to serve as a volunteer for more than 20 years in the surgical waiting room at SickKids Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her many family and friends.
The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers Jeanette Sotelo and Alex Tipon, Dr. Wilma DeGroot, the ALS Clinic at Sunnybrook, the many community healthcare workers who helped care for her and the wonderful staff at the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
We will honour Patricia’s life on Friday, February 1 at 11am at Islington United Church, 25 Burnhamthorpe Road, Etobicoke. Following the service, the celebration of Patricia’s life will continue at the Weston Golf and Country Club, 50 St Phillips Road, Toronto.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Dorothy Ley Hospice (dlhospice.org) or the ALS Society of Canada (als.ca).
