It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Panayota "Pat” Spanoyannis who passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 93.
Panayota was born on October 1, 1932, in Kalithea, Messinia, Greece, to Georgios and Fotini Tselikis. One of eight children, she cherished the close bond she shared with her family throughout her life.
Panayota is now reunited with the love of her life, her devoted husband, Panayotis "Takis” Spanoyannis, with whom she shared 56 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life founded on love, hard work, and devotion to family. She was a proud and loving mother to John (Irene), George, and Eva (Peter). She found immeasurable joy in being a grandmother to Peter (Michelle), Nancy, and George, and her heart grew even fuller with the arrival of her cherished great-grandchildren, Isabella and Johnny.
She is now also reunited with her beloved siblings, Panayotis and Sotiria, while leaving behind her dear siblings Georgia, Nikos, Louis, Kosta, and Toula, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Panayota's love was most often expressed through caring for others. An exceptional cook and baker, she found great happiness in preparing meals and opening her home to family and friends. No one ever left her table hungry, and everyone was made to feel welcome. She especially looked forward to her family's cherished annual celebration on August 15, where generations gathered to celebrate together.
Gifted with remarkable talent and patience, Panayota was an accomplished seamstress and needlepoint artist, lovingly creating clothing and handmade treasures for those she loved. She also found a deep sense of fulfillment in tending to her beautiful rose and vegetable gardens.
Alongside her husband, Panayota spent 22 years operating their Becker's convenience store, where they became beloved members of their community. Known for their kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need, they touched the lives of countless neighbours, many of whom fondly remember them to this day.
Above all else, Panayota will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering generosity, and genuine warmth. Her smile could brighten any room, and her home was a place where everyone was welcomed as family. She always had time for a visit, a comforting conversation, and a meal shared around her table. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
