Passed away peacefully on December 26, 2011 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Edna. Dear father of Bruce (Donna Smyth) and Roy (Diane). Proud grandfather of Scott, Adam, Blake and Laura. Born in Windsor, Owen was called to the bar at Osgoode Hall in 1942. After 12 years of private practice in Windsor, Owen moved to Toronto in 1955 and assumed a position at the Ontario Municipal Board. He was then appointed Deputy Solicitor for the City of North York, where he spent nearly a quarter-century before retirement in 1982. Owen was well read and also an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Maple Leafs. A life long Detroit Tigers fan, Owen could never warm to the Blue Jays, but at least the Leafs won him over. A special thanks to the staff at the Lansing Retirement Residence for the wonderful care over the last 11 years. Owen lovingly cared for his late wife Edna for many years and donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada in her memory.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston on Thursday from 10:30am until time of service in the Chapel at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
