Oreste Tropea

October 5, 1950 – September 26, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Oreste Tropea, who died on September 26, 2025, in Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, at the age of 74.

Oreste is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Rosalba (Rose) Tropea, and their daughters Teresa (Stuart), Christina (Tom), and Silvia (Daniel). Devoted Nonno to his nine treasured grandchildren: Elizabeth, Joshua, Samantha, Liam, Jordana, Chloe, Devin, Nathan, and Leona.

He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Ersilia, Valentino (Rosetta), Assunta (d. Giovanni), and Franco (Silvana), and is predeceased by his brother Michele and his wife Fiorina. He leaves behind many cherished extended family members and dear friends.

Born in Trenta, Calabria, Italy, Oreste immigrated to Canada at the age of 18, where he built a life defined by resilience, hard work, and deep devotion to his family. For over 40 years he was a dedicated mold repair technician and a proud family man. In his leisure time, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, making wine and sausage, playing cards and spending time with loved ones. He was happiest when traveling to sunny destinations, where he could be near the ocean. Oreste’s legacy is one of love, humility, and generosity. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Padre Pio Parish (5500 Major MacKenzie Drive West, Kleinburg) on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10:00am. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
