Obituary

Olive Thomas was the daughter of Nathaniel and Melitha Thomas. She was born on September 22,1928 in Grenada. She was the sixth of seven children and is survived by her only sibling, Lincoln “Bella” Thomas.

Olive became interested in BIBLE truth when a Canadian missionary, Bob Craig, called on her mother. On his return, Olive was interested in what he was teaching, accepted a bible study and later got baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Shortly thereafter she travelled to the north of the country with her two young daughters. Olive devoted her time to the ministry due to her love for people and wanting others to learn the Bible truth. She later returned to the city due to the health of her older daughter. Olive was a devout Witness and lived her life in such a way that it impacted many whom she encountered.

She immigrated to England where she studied to be a Nurse in Psychiatry, did a short stint in that field but returned to Grenada to be with her children and aging mother. Her love for the ministry did not fade with time. Even as she continued nursing, she made time for the preaching work.

She moved to Canada after a Hurricane destroyed her home, and it was safer being with her daughter now that she was advancing in age. Many will remember Olive for her listening ear, generosity, selflessness and kindness which knew no bounds. Most importantly, we will remember Olive for her love for her God Jehovah and zeal for the ministry. We will truly miss her as we await the hope of God’s Kingdom when “He calls, and she answers”.
