Olga (Ollie) Rita Strand (nee Sholomicki)
June 4, 1953 – November 5, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ollie Strand at the age of 72. Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her daughter Stacy, her most precious gift. Ollie was predeceased by her loving husband Keith Strand on October 29, 2024. United by a love that knew no bounds, Ollie, Keith, and Stacy shared a bond woven with joy, laughter, and the quiet comfort of simply being together.
Ollie was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, the youngest of four siblings. She loved spending time at the family farm in Gardenton, MB. Cooking, especially traditional Ukrainian food, was something she loved and excelled at. Ollie had a kind heart and was always a shoulder to lean on, her wisdom and advice was counted on by family and friends. Ollie met Keith at a shared job, and they spent over 40 years building a beautiful life together.
Ollie, Keith, and Stacy moved to Brampton, Ontario in 1996 to pursue their dream of owning a business and opened Stacy Lee’s family restaurant which they successfully ran for 25 years. It was a favourite spot for many regulars and where Ollie’s passion for cooking and love for family blended perfectly.
Ollie was an avid Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan and season ticket holder for many years. She also loved her Toronto Blue Jays. She could always be heard cheering on her team whether in the stands or in her living room.
Ollie was predeceased by her parents William & Mary Sholomicki, her sister Helen Shestopalka and her brothers-in-law Nelson and Barry Strand.
Ollie is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother Ed (Lynn), brother-in-law Bill (Shirley), sisters-in-law Phyllis and Joyce, nieces Carla, Jody, Andrea, Shellie, Jenny, & Jessica, nephews Craig, Derek, Bryan, & Nelson Jr and all their extended families.
Ollie will be remembered for her kind spirit, her generous heart, and the way she made everyone feel at home. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
