It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dad, Norberto Da Costa Cardoso on Dec 12, 2023. He was predeceased by our mom, Maria Jose Dias Cardoso who passed on Feb10, 2021.

He had just celebrated his 86th birthday on Nov 21, 2023, surrounded by his kids and grandchildren.

Norberto/dad is survived by his children Maria dos Milagres, Jose Manuel (Eileen), Vinicio,
Lilia (Ian), Luisa, Elisabete, Paulo (Josephine), Roberto and his beloved grandchildren
Marco, Ricardo & Joshua (Maria), Jose and Chantel (Joe & Eileen), Grace & Ben (Lilia & Ian),
Lucas (Luisa), Jacob, Keyshawn & Alixandria (Elisabete), Olivia & Xavier (Paulo & Josephine).

Norberto Da Costa Cardoso was born Nov 21,1937 in Faial, one of the islands of the Azores, Portugal where he lived for the first 8 months of his life and then grew up on the island of Sao Miquel, Azores.

On Dec. 22, 1957, Noberto married the love of his life, our mother, Maria Jose Dias on the island of Terceira, Azores where they both settled and raised their children. In 1976 they sold everything they owned and took the plunge to immigrate to Canada for a fresh start with 7 out of 8 kids in tow. They both made tremendous sacrifices to give their kids a different life.

Dad was not a man of many words, but his actions spoke volumes in dedication, love, and commitment towards his family. We will not forget his radiating smile and a laugh you couldn’t forget. Norberto was a man of great faith in Jesus Christ. Reading the bible was one of his great joys. He also had a love and passion for gardening. It was his happy place. He took great pride in being able to provide for his family using his own 2 hands. We will miss you dad and all whose lives he touched.
