NIKOLAUS GEHL
1 November 1925 – 1 September 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nikolaus Gehl. He was the husband of 70 years to Magdalena, father to Kathy (Mark) & Nik (Lynn) and grandfather to Zen.
Nick was born in a small village in Romania and after a turbulent time during the war he and his new wife settled in Toronto. Through hard work and careful planning they built a prosperous and happy life for themselves.
Nick found pleasure when he was actively doing something. Whether it was repairing an appliance or building the cottage deck, you could hear him whistling as he absorbed himself with work. In later years he kept his mind active by learning how to use a computer and he even wrote his autobiography using his newfound skill. He loved music, walks along the Humber and he was a dedicated fan of the Maple Leafs.
