Nicholas Meawasige

It is with great sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Nicholas Harold Meawasige (Nimkii) at Humber Regional Hospital in Toronto on July 14, 2025 at the age of 72.

Nicholas was born on October 16, 1952 in Blind River, Ontario. He is survived by his daughters, Jade and Allison, husband of Ruby-Anne, brother to Yvonne and Linda. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by Alice (mother) and Louis (father), brother Clifton and sisters Debbie, Emily, and Julie.

Cremation took place on July 22, 2025 with Wards Funeral Home caring for his remains.

Nicholas was most at peace at “the house” in Cutler (Serpent River First Nation). His carpentry and Macgyver-like skills and really bad jokes will be missed tremendously.

Scattering of ashes at Chipmonk Chute on Serpent River First Nation will be done at a later date as per his wishes.
