BURGESS, Nesta Joyce (nee Lewis)

After a well lived and lengthy life, Nesta Joyce Burgess passed away peacefully

in her 103rd year in hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Born in British Guyana, Nesta

was the devoted mother of Gail (Ron Whyte), Garry (Denise Ryckman), Kim

Buchanan, and the late Wayne and Glenn Burgess. A loving grandmother to

Kristian Whyte (Sarah), Ryan Whyte (Jessica), Brenna Preston (Adrian), Symon

Burgess (Kathy), Bryce Burgess (Nilusha), Sophie Ryckman-Burgess, Kyle

Buchanan (Marc Devigne) and Emily Buchanan. Nesta was delighted to become

a great-grandmother to Benny, Bronwyn, Will, Harper and Violet in recent years.

Nesta was a loving sister to Chrystal Little, and was predeceased by her

brothers, Garth and Myles Lewis. Nesta was also the beloved companion of the

late Alex McNeil.

Visitation will be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 3962 Bloor Street West

(at Shaver), Etobicoke, Ontario M9B 1M3 at 12:00 pm on Tuesday the 23rd of

June 2026, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the

Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or St. Matthew’s Anglican Church.
