Passed away peacefully, at Alexander Place in Waterdown Ontario, on January 31, 2016, just a few days shy of his 92nd birthday. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Myrna (2007). Lovingly remembered by son Kirk (Pamela), and daughter Karen ( Bradley Mitchell, deceased 2014). Cherished grandfather to Andrew, James, Jefferey, and Jason. Survived by his brother Ken. Born on February 3, 1924, the fourth of six children, in a two-story log house on a farm in Logan Township, Ontario. Neil was a proud Veteran of WWII, serving his country overseas for several years. He enjoyed all sports, particularly, football and softball in his youth. He also became an excellent rifle marksman, and won the Dominion Marksmanship Cup, while at university. Neil became very active in the Oakville Curling Club, and took up both golf and skiing. Neil was a Professional Engineer who spent most of his career at Atomic Energy of Canada, including Manager of Laboratory Operations, for many years. He held a United States Patent for an advancement in welding that was used in nuclear reactors. Neil was an avid traveler, particularly after he retired, and visited many parts of the globe. Funeral Service will be held at Maple Grove United Church, 346 Maple Grove Drive, Oakville, on Saturday February 6, 2016, at 11 am., with an hour of visitation prior to the Service. If desired, memorial donations to the Parkinson Society would be appreciated by the family.
