Monica Walinga

It is with great sadness that the family of Monica Walinga announce her passing on Monday, November 21, 2022 at home in Brampton, Ontario in her 97th year. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Jacqueline Allen (Richard), Terry Gallant (Raymond), Robert Burke (Cheryl) and Mark Burke. By her grandchildren Michael Burke (Emily), Jamie Gallant (Jeannine) and Tyler Burke and by her great granddaughter Amanda Gallant. Predeceased by her husband Mike (1971), her 2nd husband George Walinga (2001), her son David (Lynn), Donna, and Brenda.
Monica was one of the first war brides to come to Brampton in 1945 after marrying her husband Mike Burke who she met in England while he was serving in the Army.
Although Monica was very proud of her Scottish heritage (from both her parents), she primarily grew up and worked in Carlisle England until coming over to Canada.
Everyone who knew Monica loved her and she loved everyone as well. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
