Moira Geraldine MacLellan
February 26, 1951 – January 28, 2026
Moira passed away peacefully at home in Brampton in the early morning of Wednesday, January 27, 2026, after a long and courageous journey with cancer. She was surrounded by love, with her devoted husband, Charles (Charlie) MacLellan, and her beloved daughters, Teresa and Emer (Brent) MacLellan, at her side. Predeceased by her parents and by her sons, John and Danny. She is now reunited with them, at rest and in peace.
To say that Moira will be missed by her family and her many friends in Canada and Ireland is an understatement. Her kindness, conviction, and quiet strength left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her well.
A passionate advocate for social justice and fairness, Moira lived her values and passed them on to her daughters, Teresa and Emer, her nephews and nieces, Iain, Siobhán, Conor, and Róisín Brannigan and their partners.
Moira was a steadfast defender of animal rights and a voice against neglect and cruelty in all its forms. An incredibly kind and generous soul, she touched countless lives through her long and dedicated career as a special education teacher at St. Agnes School in Brampton, where her compassion and patience made a lasting difference.
Her love of learning and intellectual curiosity were deep and generous, never touched by elitism. Fluent in Irish (Gaelic), Moira took great joy in the language and led many workshops, often delighting in the opportunity to share its history, beauty, and living spirit with others.
Moira is also survived by her siblings, Colm (Ursula), Bernard and Bernadette Brannigan.
